The location of this cottage is excellent
The location of this cottage is excellent as it’s on the door step of the woods and also close to the town with the castle, shops, bars and restaurants. The setting is peaceful with easy access to parking and a lovely outdoor seating area which we didn’t get a chance to use due to the rain. Inside it’s spacious and comfortable with a large open plan kitchen and dining area. There’s also a pool table and games/ books available. Both showers were good and beds comfy. We’d love to return to Nick’s place in 2021.

Lovely Cottage
Stayed here over the Easter weekend and really enjoyed ourselves. The cottage is clean, cosy and has everything you need. We were welcomed with a lovely bottle of wine. As a converted building it incorporates a number of quirky features, such as "balconies" in the bedrooms which my son loved shouting down to us from. The path outside the front windows is the main entrance into the woods and can be busy with walkers, some may not like this but we loved people watching 🙂 The cottage is close enough to Skipton to easily walk to the town centre, or to the castle, but situation in an idyllic setting surrounded by trees and the river. Very pretty all round Would recommend

Fabulous spot, straight into woods out of front door and a short walk along river to Skipton town centre.
Great location to explore the area, with Ingleton Falls, Malham Cove, Hebden Bridge and Hardcastle Crags river walk all worth a visit. Cottage was well equipped, clean and warm, although you do need to get used to the ramblers passing right outside the front door (didn't bother us in the slightest). Great place for dogs straight into woods.

We REALLY enjoyed staying at the cottage.
Idyllic location. Quick walk into town...great views behind castle...Quick walk to Pie shops and Skipton woods in your back garden...so long as you are mobile its all doable on foot and just beautiful. It's busy with walkers and dogs, but we liked to watch the world going by! 😉 The cottage would have been more comfortable with a couple of big area rugs. The wood burner is great to have, but only one basket of firewood is supplied. After that, you have to buy your own. There is a damp smell in the cottage. Our stay was just after storm Ciara and Harry. LOTS of rain...every day for the week. Some times torrential. We had a couple of small leaks In the skylight windows...but this could have been due to the amount of rain?? Sun would have been nice, but the rain didn't spoil our stay. All in all. We LOVED it! would definitely want to return here.

Lovely peaceful location
We stayed for a week in July, the cottage was in a beautiful location and right next to Skipton Woods in the shadows of the castle. Easy access to the woods, canal path with a gentle walk into Skipton and plenty of things to see and do. Facilities very good, clean and comfortable. First class decorations and plenty of natural daylight. The owners are very knowledgable about the area and the history of the buildings, nothing too much trouble. Excellent selection of local information available in the cottage on arrival to give 'food for thought' regarding places to visit. Great choice of restaurants and pubs to enjoy in Skipton with a wide selection of foods available for those who do not want to self cater. Try the Narrow Boat pub as the selection of real ales superb and the food fantastic. Dined there on two occasions and was very impressed. Excellent value for money, do try the Belly Pork....delicious. If you want to order a take away to be delivered to the cottage, make sure you have the post code to hand........as we found out!!!! This is a great base for exploring the Dales and the beautiful scenery all around. Day trips to Grassington, Ripon, Harrogate, Malham Cove and many other beautiful destinations are easily accessible by public transport or car. Good value for money and a very pleasant location. Extremely recommendable.

Spacious and warm. Lovely kitchen area, airy and bright
The cottage itself is ideally located both for Skipton Castle and Woods, and for Skipton town centre. It was clean and well presented, with plenty of room. Plus points included a good amount of seating, and several powerpoints. Central heating kept the cottage warm, despite the open plan layout. Kitchen area is large, and the overall mood is cheery and quite cosy for open plan!

Cosy, comfortable and dog friendly
We enjoyed our four days at the cottage. Jill was very helpful in making suggestions as to where we should go. The problems highlighted in an earlier review had all been attended to and she was very open to suggestions of other things that would be helpful to have in the kitchen. The cottage is spacious; the central heating is effective and only needed to be switched on for a short time during the rainy days before the cottage felt warm. It is only a short walk from the town centre, where the bread shop opens at 6am. Try the award winning sausages at the butcher's nearby which are mouth watering. The woods are good for exercising dogs but if your dog (like ours) has a tendency to flush out ducks or chase sheep (in the fields near the woods) they will need to be on a lead. A very enjoyable stay despite indifferent weather.

High Mill, Skipton
A superb location in Skipton Castle Woods, a well presented and clean cottage with everything you need for a short holiday break - a very enjoyable few days here and we hope to return!

Lovely location
The best asset to this property is its location. It is great to leave the cottage for a stroll into the woods, or walk into town alongside the canal. Skipton itself has plenty to offer, the castle and town are well worth a visit. The property was satisfactory but a little more attention to detail is required. In particular the toilet seat upstairs was broken and the mouldy curtains downstairs were unsightly. The blinds covering the patio doors really do need replacing too and the mouldy shower sealant could easily be dealt with to improve the property.
